KBJW Named Top Workplace by Richmond Times-Dispatch

Koontz Bryant Johnson Williams (KBJW), a leading regional civil engineering firm headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, has been recognized by the Richmond Times-Dispatch as one of the Top Workplaces in the Richmond region in 2023.  The company was previously recognized in 2021. The award celebrates companies that exceed national benchmarks for a positive, people-centered workplace culture.  Ratings are given by the employees through surveys about their work environments.

“We are honored to earn this award from our employees,” said Gregory Koontz, President & CEO, Koontz Bryant Johnson Williams (KBJW).  “Our employees are what make KBJW a special place through their commitment to our mission, support for each other, and dedication to our clients.  We believe this is really what sets us apart.”

The award is based solely on an employee survey administered by Energage LLC.  The survey covers numerous topics affecting workplace life from employees’ views on leadership, managers, pay, benefits, training, and work-life balance.  Companies who scored the highest locally – and exceeded national benchmarks – made the Richmond Times-Dispatch list.

Koontz explained how valuable the survey results are for the company and its continued growth. “Feedback from this survey not only shows what a great place KBJW is to work, but it also helps with attracting exceptional, like-minded talent in the future.  We want to retain our people-centered work culture as we expand,” he added.

In addition to collecting feedback from employees about workplace culture, the survey also measured various culture drivers that are critical to the success of an organization. Employees ranked the company in the top 25% of those surveyed for Work-Life Balance.
