UMW Stormwater Management Study

Client

University of Mary Washington

Location

Fredericksburg, VA

Project Description

Koontz-Bryant prepared an overall stormwater management plan to address current and future stormwater quality and quantity management needs. An aerial survey, existing projects and previous studies were used to determine existing conditions for the overall campus. The University’s master plan provided the basis for the future conditions. The study identified stormwater requirements based on current regulations and potential locations for new BMPs. The plan also identified existing storm sewer pipes and outfalls channels that may need improvements with future university projects.

Solutions Offered

• Mapping and modeling an existing storm sewer piping network for the entire UMW campus
• Determining which projects were constructed after 1990
• Locating BMPs that would serve multiple projects and minimize environmental impacts
