Somerville Bridge

KBJW performed the field evaluation and load rating for the Somerville Bridge over Haskins Run reline project. Originally built in the 1970s, the large, corrugated metal culvert is maintained by the Butler County Engineer’s Office. Our team helped Butler County determine how strong the aging structure remained after decades in service.
SOLUTIONS OFFERED
KBJW’s experienced field inspectors measured the thickness and shape of the 42-foot pipe and documented any corrosion. Our engineers then calculated the load rating of the structure in its current condition. The team also consulted the County regarding relining and other possible methods for preventing further corrosion that could weaken the structure in the future.
