5 Things You Didn't Know About ... Todd Weik

# 1

I love to travel and have been to all but 3 states in America. I do a lot of camping, hiking and I have backpacked the Rockies of Wyoming and Montana and Isle Royal out in Lake Superior. I was caught in the back-country of Yellowstone when it was a blaze in 1988. Thankfully we were able to hike out although the smoke was so thick, you could only see about 2 feet in front of yourself. I am an avid downhill skier, fisherman ( I fish in Musky tournaments) and deer hunter.

I was very politically active as a student at the University of Wisconsin. I was elected to the College of Ag and Life Sciences Student Counsel and was a student liaison to the faculty, I was elected to the Wisconsin Student Association as a Senator and was active in local City mayoral politics.

I worked in Virginia for a year right after I graduated from College and lived in Charlottesville. One of the big projects I was involved with was a neighborhood revitalization planning project in Roanoke.

I have an Uncle that is quite famous in the Medieval Literature World. He has a home in Hollywood with a backyard so photogenic that he has rented out to magazines and celebrities. These photo shots have been for every magazine imaginable and Angelina Jolie was recently photographed there. His home was also the site of a movie that starred Treat Williams, Joe Piscapo and Vincent Price. It was called Dead Heat. Terrible movie, but if you want to see this amazing backyard and pool, check it out.

I was recently published in the ACEC Journal of Toxic, Hazardous and Radioactive Wastes. I was a co-author of: Air Cooled Blast Furnace Slag II; Phosphate Removal from Simulated Rainfall Events. This was a peer reviewed article and was part of the phosphorus removal work that I was involved with in the past 3 years.

Favorite thing about my job
