The USS Monitor Center

Hundreds of artifacts salvaged from the Monitor’s wreckage and a voluminous collection of archives occupy the USS Monitor Center, a $30 million addition to the Mariner’s Museum. Koontz-Bryant provided civil engineering services for this high-profile project which included building expansions; additional parking facilities; utility relocation and extensions; stormwater management; and landscape and hardscape design.
SOLUTIONS OFFERED
This project was situated in a constrained location in close proximity to Lake Maury. Working with existing site features and constraints, care had to be taken to not only protect the integrity of the lake, but also permit the use of the lake as a Regional Stormwater Management Facility.
