Recreation Facilities will be Affected by
ADA Regulation Changes
After soliciting public comment, the Department of Justice amended its regulations implementing Title II and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), applicable to all commercial and public facilities, and to certain private businesses that accommodate the public. To minimize compliance burdens on entities subject to more than one legal standard, the Department of Justice adopted the revised 2010 ADA design standards for accessible design to harmonize with the Federal standards implementing the Architectural Barriers Act and with the private sector model codes that are adopted by most states. Client inquiries prompted Koontz-Bryant, P.C. to host seminars on the regulation changes pertaining to exterior site design. Koontz-Bryant is a Richmond, VA based multi-disciplined design and civil engineering firm that specializes in site development solutions.
