Stormwater Panel Discussion

This past month we were thrilled to host a very successful interactive seminar on the new changes to the Virginia stormwater regulations. We had guest speakers from the DCR who helped shed some light on these new regulations.

David Johnson, Director, DCR

Representatives from state and private colleges and universities were invited to attend this event and were encouraged to interact with our panel of speakers. More information about the event can be viewed here

Because of the success of this event Koontz-Bryant will be in touch with Dave Johnson, Director, at DCR for a potential follow up session.

Project Updates:

Koontz-Bryant,  just completed a Preliminary Drainage Study for the James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library located in Fredericksburg, VA.  The main entrance area in the courtyard of this historic facility was prone to flooding after most rainfall events.  Koontz-Bryant was able to provide alternative recommendations to improve the drainage challenges.

April 2012

As the warm winter comes to an end, we look forward to a bright Spring. Unfortunately, with that comes the anticipation of one of the worst allergy seasons we have seen yet. Our parking lot at 1703 N. Parham Rd. is filled with cars that have a nice thick layer of orange dust...Bring on those April showers!

After several inquiries we're happy to announce that we will be issuing 2 CEU credits for those of you who attended the Stormwater Panel Discussion Luncheon we held last month. You should be receiving the certificate via email by April 23rd. If you are unsure if we have your email address on file and would like to receive credit, please email Alyah Bowler your contact information including, name, company and email address at abowler@koontzbryant.com.

Congratulations to Bob Fitz, Group Manager for Recreation and Athletic Projects on celebrating 13 years with Koontz-Bryant!

Low Impact Development Approach to Managing the New Stormwater Regulations

Stormwater Treatment
The new Virginia stormwater regulations scheduled to go into full effect on July 1, 2014 present significant challenges for site design and development.  Much of the current focus is on avoiding these challenges by taking advantage of the grandfathering provisions available, allowing sites to be developed under the existing regulations until July 1, 2019.  While Koontz-Bryant is active in helping those who want to qualify their projects for grandfathered status, we are also preparing for the challenges of developing sites under the new regulations.
